E.K.O.ME. was founded in 1987 as a not for profit, non partisan and independent organisation.

Its aims are to commission studies dealing with social, economic and political problems in combination
with the Greek welfare state, and disseminate the principles of the free market economy and liberalism with publications, lectures, open forum, discussion groups, etc.

E.K.O.ME supports free market economies, less government and a strong Greek presence in international politics.

The Society for Social and Economic Studies has been disolved. The ex partners of E.K.O.ME. will maintain E.K.O.ME.'s website as long as visitors are intersted in reading E.K.O.ME.'s publications.
